One Bread, One Body
St. Mary's Family School of Religion (FSR) meets twice each month. Families gather in the Parish Hall on a Sunday morning from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Children in grades K-6 receive a grade appropriate classroom lesson and assessment, while parents are given an introduction to and background information about the lessons to be covered at home during the next three weeks. The celebration of upcoming Liturgical Feasts and Church holidays are also discussed at the parent gatherings.
Once home, parents use the information they have learned, suggested resources, and the activities contained in the family packet to present the lessons for each month. It is hoped that families will find ways to integrate the faith discussions into their daily life, so that praying, studying, and learning the faith together becomes part of each family's culture . As the children grow, we hope that formation will become a family dialogue, with each member of the family becoming involved in the exchange of faith.
